Fungi Fun

October 2023. Autumn is a good time of year for mushrooms, and Catton Park is full of different varieties. What's the difference between mushrooms and fungi I hear you ask?

Apparently, all mushrooms are fungi but not all fungi are mushrooms. Confused? Well I am!

Anyway, I thought I would share some of the different varieties that I have come across during my weekly visits. Please note that I am not an expert in any shape or form. I have used 'Google lens' in an attempt to identify as many as I can. Please share your thoughts on any that you may recognise.




Stinkhorn mushroom...



Chaga mushroom - looks like a piece of steak when sliced...
